FAQ’s
We’ve thoughtfully answered some of the most common ones here for you to explore!
-
Ka Huna is a more dynamic and high energy space with the practitioner using different areas of their forearm to provide soft and deep pressure. Intuition is used to mix the pressure, speed and music as you are taken on a journey. Heartworks Lomi Lomi’s journey is elegant, serene and tranquil, offering long flowing strokes in a more systematic and structured way than Ka Huna’s intuitive flow. Both massages use oil, music, draping and a deep presence from the practitioner to leave you feeling a profound peace, rest, and embodiment.
-
It is different in so many ways, from the underbody massage, to the draping, music and rhythmic movements of the practitioner. If you have never experienced Hawaiian style bodywork before, please be prepared for a new experience that may leave you never wanting to go back to a regular massage again!
-
Other than feeling safe and supported please arrive with very few expectations. Every session will feel different from the next and the process is very much a journey.
-
No. The more you surrender, the more you will receive. The best way to experience this work is to keep your attention entirely on your own self, feeling all that you can possibly feel physically, emotionally and spiritually. We also recommend to simply notice and allow those feelings without any attempts to figure out or to classify.
-
While not remedial, many clients feel a sense of healing on more than just the physical level.
-
It is very common to feel emotional both during and days after a Ka Huna massage. Please be kind to yourself and allow any emotions to rise. We welcome this process but don’t push, force or dig for it.
-
With words like ‘releasing emotions’ and ‘healing’ it may be easy to think that you need to have a problem that needs ‘fixing’. This is not true! Whether for a pro-active treatment, for deep relaxation or for pure enjoyment; the pleasurable sensation of a Hawaiian style massage needs no other excuse!
-

Yes, we absolutely encourage you to speak into any needs you have during your session which may help you receive more deeply. We do, however, recommend that you feel and stay completely with your own self during the massage, this means that general conversation with your practitioner will be a distraction to yourself.
-
Nothing other than a clean body is required. Clothing is not worn during your session; however, you will be draped using sarongs and towels to keep you feeling safe and covered. Wearing clothes that are ok to get a little oily after your session is recommended.
-
To get the most out of your massage, eat lightly or fast for at least 2 hours prior to your session time. Please arrive with a clean body. If you shave any body parts getting massaged, please shave before your session to avoid prickly regrowth. You may also like to consider an intention for your session.
